NetScanTools Pro is a 32 bit app designed for use on 32
or 64 bit Windows 11 and 10. Use on Windows Server
is discouraged - why? When the software
is accessed remotely ALL results are based on the server
network location, not on the computer remotely accessing the
software. For example, if you do a traceroute, the starting
point in the trace is the server, not your computer.
Requires GUI, this is not a command line tool.. The
software does not require elevated privileges
for operation.
MacOS is not support, however, any
operating system like MacOS with a Virtual Machine capable
of running Windows 10 can host NetScanTools Pro.
NetScanTools Pro does not run on Windows XP, 2003, 2000, NT
4/3.5, ME, 98 or 95. It may run on Windows 8.x, 7 and Vista
but we do not test on those operating systems.
NetScanTools Pro requires a TCP/IP network connection with access to DNS. For best results, use a wired connection such as ethernet 10/100/1000 or more. Most features of the software will operate with a wireless connection. Cellular modems are not usually WinPcap compatible meaning sending and receiving packets through the interface using WinPcap dependent tools may not occur. For best results, do not use it behind a firewall unless you can configure the firewall to pass the packet types we use (ICMP, TCP/UDP, ARP). Personal firewalls and some antivirus scanners that check incoming and outgoing email will cause false positive reporting when using port scanner due to the way they operate.
NetScanTools Pro requires 208 MB minimum and the results
database will grow as you use the software.
The USB
version is typically supplied or installed on a 32 GB USB
v2/v3 flash drive and requires no hard disk space other than
the WinPcap or Npcap driver.
